Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll

The above is a Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll, it transpires! I saw this wee bird last Friday, thinking that it was 'just' an Arctic Redpoll. After sharing my photo with a far more knowledgeable person than myself, Tony Marr, it has finally been confirmed as a Hornemann's Arctic Redpoll (Carduelis hornemanni hornemanni).
It's a subspecies of the Arctic Redpoll and an extremely rare visitor to the UK and this area, the Outer Hebrides. Friday was a good day!
